The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then came down close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
