The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
