The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the declining star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
