HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
