Al-Najm 3 of 3
HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This (Muhammad SAW) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
