Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 and covered them with torment. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
