(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
