Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ۩ 62
