Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
