Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
