Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
