Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
