(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
