Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
