Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
