So did you observe him who turned away? 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
