Have you seen the one who turned away 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 Thamud, 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
