(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
