Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
