So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 Thamud, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
