So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from a discharged living germ 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
