Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
