Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
