HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
