Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
