The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
