The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
