The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
