The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
