The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
