The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
