The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
