The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
