The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
