The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
