The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
