The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
