The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
