The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
