The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
