The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
