The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
