The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
