The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
