The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
