The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
