The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
