The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
