The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
