The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
